GRAND JURY CHARGES BRONX MAN WITH MURDERING HIS MOTHER
AND YOUNGER BROTHER
Bronx District Attorney Robert T. Johnson announced today that 24-year-old Lamar Platt has been indicted for murder in the shooting deaths of his 47-year old mother and 22-year-old brother.
The Grand Jury indicted Platt for Murder in the 1st degree and two counts Murder in the 2nd degree in the deaths of Marlene Platt and Nashon Platt. The charge of Murder in the 1st degree, for causing the deaths of multiple victims, is punishable by a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. The grand jury also charged Platt with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree.
Platt is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment in State Supreme Court, Part A, on February 6, 2008.
It is alleged in court documents that Platt caused the deaths of his mother and brother by shooting them and dismembering their bodies in the family’s residence at 1610 University Avenue, the Bronx. The alleged crimes occurred sometime between 9:30 pm November 18, 2007 and 9:15 am November 19, 2007.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney David Birnbaum, Trial Counsel, Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Aaron Kaplan, Domestic Violence Bureau.
