SEX OFFENSE
CONVICTION FOR BRONX DENTIST WHO VICTIMIZED A GIRLFRIEND’S
YOUNG DAUGHTERS
Bronx District Attorney Robert
T. Johnson announced today the conviction of Anthony
Richardson in connection with sexual and other encounters
with a girlfriend’s two young daughters.
Richardson, 49, of 3 Fordham Hill Oval, the Bronx,
pled guilty to one count of Sexual Misconduct and
one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Richardson
admitted to State Supreme Court Justice Margaret Clancy
that he had “engaged in sexual intercourse with
another person without such person’s consent.”
Regarding the “endangering” count, Richardson
admitted to engaging in inappropriate conduct with
the younger sister of the girl with whom he had sexual
intercourse.
Justice Clancy sentenced Richardson to two years in
jail, one year on each count to be served consecutively.
The judge also issued orders of protection restricting
Richardson’s proximity to the two victims. At
the time of the plea, Richardson had been in jail
since his arrest on October 29, 2003. He was unable
to post bail of $1,000,000 bond or $100,000 cash while
his case was pending.
Mr. Johnson said that in accepting this plea, we considered
a number of things including the wishes of the victims
to not have to relive their experience by testifying:
“The defendant already had been in jail for
nearly two and a half years, must register as a sex
offender and submit a DNA sample to the State’s
registry. Equally important was the certainty of a
conviction which we will communicate to the appropriate
State licensing agency.”
Richardson’s crimes occurred at his apartment
between May 1, 2000 and October 11, 2003 and involved
his girlfriend’s daughters who were 15 years
old and 14 years old respectively when the illegal
conduct came to light.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney
Astrid Borgstedt, Senior Investigative Assistant,
and Assistant District Attorney Robin Burgess of the
Child Abuse / Sex Offense Bureau.
