BRONX WOMAN IS CONVICTED ON CHARGES OF ROBBERY
Bronx District Attorney Robert T. Johnson announced today that a 33 year-old Bronx woman as been convicted of the gunpoint robbery of a 14 year-old girl.
Catherine Johnson, of 1129 East 221st Street, was convicted following a bench trial, on one count of Robbery in the 1st degree, a class “B” felony offense. Johnson is facing a term of up to 25 years imprisonment when she appears before State Supreme Court Justice Caesar Cirigliano for sentencing on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 in Part T5.
The incident took place on September 17, 2002, when Johnson approached the 14 year-old victim as she walked along Davidson Avenue, and pulled her into a building. Once inside the building Johnson held a gun to the victim’s head and demanded her jewelry. Johnson snatched the jewelry valued at approximately $200 and fled.
After reporting the incident to the police, the victim identified Johnson as her assailant from a photo array and subsequent line-up. The gun was recovered in the defendant’s apartment.
Assistant District attorney Troy A. Smith of the Trail Bureau is prosecuting this case.
