FORMER DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AIDE AT SUNY MARITIME COLLEGE IS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE COUNTS OF POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Bronx District Attorney Robert T. Johnson announced today that a 34 year-old former Director of Financial Aide at SUNY Maritime College, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of possessing child pornography on his office computer.

Gregory Stevenson, of 895 Ray Avenue, Union New Jersey, was charged with 40 counts of Possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, and 40 counts of Possessing a sexual performance by a child. Both charges are class “E” felony offenses punishable by a maximum of 4 years imprisonment on each count.

An internal investigation began in March 2004, after a SUNY Maritime computer technician responded to a routine service call and discovered images of child pornography on the defendant’s computer. The technician reported what he had discovered to John Dillon, Chief of Security, SUNY Maritime. Dillon immediately ordered a further investigation of the defendant’s hard drive. Upon the conclusion of their internal investigation on March 31, 2004, Stevenson’s employment was terminated and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office was contacted.

Bronx District Attorney Detective Investigator’s began their investigation of the hard drive in April 2004. The forensic investigation of the hard drive is continuing.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Pina Terranova of the Arson / Auto / Economic Crime Bureau.
