CRIME VICTIMS’ ASSISTANCE UNIT HOSTS BRONX SURVIVORS ANNUAL CLOTHESLINE PROJECT DISPLAY AND INFORMATION FAIR

The Bronx District Attorney’s Crime Victims Assistance Unit, in partnership with allied professionals and community volunteers, hosts the eighth annual Bronx Clothesline Project and information fair in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

This years theme, "Victims Rights: America’s Values", places an emphasis on America’s promise to all crime victims, to make available, advocacy, resources, information, protection, privacy, and choices. This massive visual display highlights the victim’s rights movement that has successfully brought the concerns of crime victims to the forefront of America’s public policy agenda.

Mr. Johnson said: "The Clothesline Project is a powerful exhibit that continues to personalize the often-painful issues of crime victims, and their struggle to survive."

The event, held in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, will take place today, Tuesday, April 20, 2004 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and tomorrow, Wednesday, April 21, 2004 from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Bronx County Building, 851 Grand Concourse, in the Veterans Memorial Hall, on the first floor.

This event is co-sponsored by a broad coalition of advocates and service providers. The list of committee members and participants are as follows: The Bronx District Attorney’s Crime Victims Assistance Unit, Bronx Borough President’s Office, Safe Horizon – Criminal Court, Safe Horizon – Bronx Families of Homicide, Safe Horizon - Family Court, Fordham Tremont Community Mental Health Center, Bronx Independent Living Services, Kingsbridge Heights Community Center – Child Sexual Abuse Treatment & Prevention Program, East Harlem Neighborhood Based Alliance Co., SCAN – Supportive Children’s Advocacy Network, N.Y.C. Human Resources Administration, Sanctuary for Families, North Central Bronx Hospital Domestic Violence, Legal Information for Families Today, Neighborhood Shopp, Neighborhood State Crime Victims Board, Million Mom March, Casa Atabex Ache / House of Wonya’s Power, Community Choice Health Plan and the Department of Probations.
